Jay Leno Drives The Tesla Cybertruck, Musk Rides Shotgun



We should expect something exciting in the full episode.
The newest season of Jay Leno's Garage has started on May 20, 2020 and if you've been keeping updated with the beat, one of the cars that will be featured on the show is the Tesla Cybertruck. We've seen its teaser video before, which showcased the Corvette Convertible along with the electric truck.

CNBC Prime isn't done with the teasing, though. A new teaser video came out (embedded on top) showing Leno driving Musk around in the Cybertruck show car while talking about the controversially-designed vehicle, of course.

The video's a little out of sync, though, but if you'll listen to the conversation, Musk has confirmed that the Cybertruck's production version will have a major deviation, so bear with it if you will.

When asked what will be changed in the production-spec, Musk said that they may have made the show car a bit bigger than what's intended. The real thing will be smaller by five percent, although Musk has confirmed that the proportions will be the same. This kind of contradicts with Musk's tweet before, saying that the Cybertruck's width will be closer to 82 inches instead of 80 inches. But then again, we'll never know the actual measurement until the production version becomes a reality, so let's take this with a sprinkle of salt.


Musk divulged the reason why they had to make the Cybertruck bulletproof, as well, and the answer was quite simple – because it's "cool" and "badass."


One more thing: Leno's conversation with Musk ended with The Boring Company in mind, both wondering if the massive electric truck can fit the one-and-a-half-mile tunnel. It looks like Leno and Musk drove into the tunnel for curiosity's sake, but we can only confirm that on its full episode, but which one? Guess we have to watch each episode to find out.

Jay Leno's Garage Features Elon, Franz, Cybertruck, Boring Tunnel & More


The whole S3XY lineup appears, plus the Tesla Roadster and Semi.
If Tesla CEO Elon Musk had to choose any celebrity to be the only other person to drive the Cybertruck publicly, Jay Leno is an obvious choice. Leno is a car collector and aficionado, he owns a Tesla Model S, and he's supported Tesla for years.

Last night – May 27, 2020 – Jay Leno's Garage aired the newest episode featuring the Tesla Cybertruck, along with Musk, of course. Chief designer Franz von Holzhausen made a brief appearance (he actually arrived in the Cybertruck). Musk, however, drove up in the Tesla Semi. In addition, Tesla's entire S3XY lineup is featured, as well as the upcoming Roadster.

For Tesla fans, you couldn't really ask for more eye candy here. However, the most fascinating part is seeing the Cybertruck up close, in broad daylight. Not to mention being inside the truck, with its plethora of glass and open, airy feel.

Some thought perhaps Musk would be doing most of the driving, but Leno is behind the wheel the entire time. That's a whole lot of trust since there's only one Cybertuck prototype that we're aware of. Leno even drives the truck into The Boring Company tunnel. As you can see, it just barely fits in terms of its width.
