Well after much searching (both soul and internet) for my old CSL I found a 2006 forum post from the buyer of the car back in 1993. I didn't hold much hope that a 14-year-old forum post mentioning #2275177 was going to be much help but it was all I had to go by. Off went a few (many) messages to old profiles on several forums and to my amazement, I received a call back from Russ late last year, the 1993 buyer of my car. Even more astounding was he still owned the car! (and 11 others). So after lots of car talk, a lot of back and forth, and 27 years of ownership, he agreed to sell the car back to me. JOY! I'm super excited and really looking forward to getting the old girl CSL here to CA and out on the road and reliving some memories. She The car will at some stage be restored to her its former glory (Fjord Blue) but for now, I'm just looking forward to getting her it here and behind the wheel (a 380mm Momo Alpina (maybe), nonetheless!). Thanks to all those I've talked with and have put up with my push to get back into the E9 world. Updates and more pics to come!
resulta que el dueño vendio su csl, y luego se puso a buscarlo, lo encontro 20 años despues y lo compra, y se lo envian,...con chuches,
Update: I overnighted the check for my old CSL yesterday and was waiting for the pickup for tomorrow (Saturday). The seller received a call from the shipper and said the schedule had changed and could the car be ready today?! So the car should be getting loaded as I type. I'm nervous...
The seller had to pack up all the spares (see pic) which included lots of interesting stuff including 2 Petris in addition to the Alpina Momo (Pre-CSL Alpina) and allegedly a close ratio G265/5. An original set of progressive CSL springs and some suspension parts. Two NOS aluminum door skins, two CSL airdams and the roof hoop (missing the hardware) amongst other stuff.
There are several large ticket items I didn't get as I really didn't need them but they are for sale. An NOS factory CSL door (not the skin - the whole door! ), an NOS, CSL windshield and some special mystery race cam from Korman that we are trying to figure out.
Stay tuned for updates! Hopefully things go smoothly.
