Magna-Steyr and X-Raid cooperate with X3 Rally-Project (28/07/05) :
The German BMW Rally raid team "X-Raid" and the Austrian Magna Steyr of automotives Group build together a Rally Bmw-X3 for the Dakar 2006. Thus team head Sven Quandt a step preceded and terminated wild speculations, which circulate since beginning of the yearly in the scene. Magna, BMWS Steyr/Austria and X-Raid want besides no half things to make: The so-called "X3CC" is to become a high speed vehicle and above all is enough for Marathon/rallies like the Dakar to withstand. It can count already nearly as work vehicle. Altogether for the time being three vehicles of the type "X3CC" are planned - the past BMW’S X5 are to be rented further private customers. With new co-operation Quandt a coup succeeded, how he could hardly have come better to the current time. Although a X5 with the Dubaier Khalifa aluminium Mutaiwei 2004 won the FIA Marathon World cup, the team stood for lack of sufficient co-operation with the automaker BMW (that its co-operation within the range of engine/drives not to continue wanted) and owing to financial pad lacking on the dump. Now X-Raid strikes back together with strong partners - under it not least BMW Austria -. After first tests already successfully ran, now the three prototypes are completely again to be built. During itself Magna Steyr with development, aerodynamics and the construction of the chassis involved, puts its know-how to BMW Austria in the form of engines at the disposal. Bi-turbo Diesels are to be used in the new X3CC 3-Litre developing 270 bhp from the same engine used in the 535d.
