Re: Question: there are 2 versiosn of MKIV Hardware ???? PICTURES !!!
I have an MKIV unit that is from a monochrome 3 series and it doesn't
work in my color M5. My MKIV is the same exact part number that other
people have working in their color M5's. Below are the instructions
someone has sent me for
recoding a monochrome MKIV to a color MKIV. I
am inclined to think this might work. Now I just need to find someone
in my area that will try it.
...josh
Josh,
I will describe the procedure for recoding. This I the procedure they
use by BMW dealers in Germany for the recoding.
1) connect GT-1 to the car
2) choose ZCS/FA (= central coding key)
3) choose retrofit
4) choose IKE (instrument cluster)
5) Choose Language
6) slect 3 languages
7) ont the screen of the monitor appears following text (not on GT1
screen !!!): Software loading necessary. In this case notthing
appears because the MK4 is coded for radionavigation. Nevertheless
put in the Software CD e.g. V26
8) After 1 or 2 minutes you have the Software update screen
9)After the software is loaded succesfuly you have to code the MK4
via the GT-1 to your car.
