De acuerdo contigo 100%, solo de pensar en el antiguo DBS con aquellas lineas musculosas para elegantes sin entradas macarras... y como he visto después lo mismo con el V8 Vantage, Aston sigue siendo de las marcas mas elegantes pero uff, claramente van a peor.. casi que me empieza a gustar más Jaguar

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Turned into DBR1 Le Mans Win Tribute

Next year, Aston Martin will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of a DBR1.

The 1959 event was spectacular, drawing a huge crowd of 150,000 people to the track (currently Le Mans is watched from the scene on average by 100,000 spectators), ending with Aston Martin taking the race in first and second positions.

It was to be the carmaker’s first win in the world’s most famous endurance race, at also their last, so it’s easy to understand why Aston would want to celebrate it.

And to do that, Aston Martin announced a 24-units limited edition of the DBS Superleggera called DBS 59, trimmed and refreshed to be a tribute to the car that landed the win more than half a century ago.

The number of units to be built, 24, is meant to represent the number of hours raced by the DBR1. Aston Martin Racing Green paintwork will be used for all of them, with carbon fiber sprinkled here and there.

At the interior, fabric inspired by the DBR1 seat material is used on the seats and door inserts, while bronze detailing is used from place to place.

In all, not that many changes, but what can the car builder actually do to a car that is already the epitome of its stables? Powered by a V12 engine good for 725 horsepower, the DBS Superleggera is the fastest Aston Martin ever built, topping at 211 mph (340 mph).

As for the car it pays tribute to, the DBR1 saw a production run of only five units from 1956 and 1959. Back in 2017, one of them became the most expensive British-built car sold at an auction, leaving the floor for £17.5 million ($22.5 million).

The 24 units of the DBS 59 special edition are already on sale, but prices have not been made public.

Strictly limited to only ten examples and featuring lavish personalisation via Aston Martin’s bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde proudly celebrates not only the half century since the iconic luxury passenger jet took to the skies, but also the centenary of one of Concorde’s two flag carrying airline operators: British Airways.

The announcement of this new special edition sports car marks the latest chapter in the ongoing Aston Martin Wings Series. The DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition joins the Vanquish S Red Arrows Edition; Vantage Blades Edition; and the V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80 in the brand’s aviation-inspired celebration models.

Fittingly, the car has been commissioned by Aston Martin Bristol which is to be found just a long runway’s length away from Aerospace Bristol at Filton – the place that is now home to the last Concorde ever to fly and the location at which the British Concorde were manufactured. Today’s announcement is particularly fitting, too, since it coincides precisely with the date of 26 November, 2003 when the last Concorde flight, of G-BOAF now in residence at Aerospace Bristol – touched down.

The DBS Superleggera Concorde features a carefully judged selection of interior and exterior design and trim modifications to delicately yet unmistakably celebrate the achievements of the Concorde team. Outside, the sports car is distinguished by bespoke side strakes milled from solid aluminium; a bespoke painted livery comprising British Airways colours on the roof strake, aero blade and rear diffuser; black tinted carbon fibre roof with Concorde silhouette graphic; the famous British Airways ‘Speedmarque’ logo in chrome on the front wings; a unique Q by Aston Martin wing badge with black enamel infill; unique and authentic jet black painted Civil Aviation Authority aircraft identifier numbers and bespoke inspection plaques signed by Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO Andy Palmer and British Airways Chairman Álex Cruz.

Inside, the new car features more carefully judged design features created to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Concorde. Among the highlights inside are the Concorde logo on the front seat facings; a Mach Meter graphic embroidered on the driver’s side sun visor; a unique headliner featuring printed Alcantara displaying a ‘sonic boom’ graphic; paddle shifters made from titanium from Concorde compressor blades; floor mats in Terence Conran design pattern; seatbelt buckle badges milled from solid aluminium and bespoke sill plaques.

This, of course, is supported by the supreme performance of the DBS Superleggera – the brand’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12-engined Super GT flagship boasting 725 PS, 900 Nm of torque, a top speed of 211mph and blistering acceleration that dispatches 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and 0-100 mph in 6.4 seconds.

Parts of the proceeds from the sale of each individual car will be donated to the Air League Trust, a not-for-profit organisation that teaches under-privileged children how to fly, and offers support for them to work in engineering.

Aston Martin has kicked off the production of the DBS Superleggera Concorde more than a year after it was presented.


There’s no word on why it took so long to bring the special edition grand tourer to the market, but it is possible that the global pandemic threw a spanner in Aston’s initial plans.

Car #1 of 10 sports a white paint finish, contrasted by the black roof and the red accents flowing from the front to the rear pillar. The British flag is depicted on the front apron, the boot lid spoiler and the diffuser, and the special plaques and unique jet-black painted Civil Aviation Authority aircraft identifier number complete the design.


The aviation theme continues in the cockpit, which boasts the ‘Concorde’ logo on the seats, a ‘sonic boom’ graphic in the headliner and a ‘mach meter’ pattern on the driver’s sun visor. The paddle shifters were actually made from the Concorde’s compressor blades, because the special edition DBS Superleggera, which was commissioned by Aston Martin Bristol and designed with British Airways, pays homage to the fastest passenger jet ever created.

The special edition is still powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 producing 715 HP and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. This allows the car to sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds en route to a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).
