Después de ver un Porsche 911 Turbo prototipo camuflado en diciembre pasado, nuestros fotógrafos espías captaron un 911 normal durante las pruebas de invierno, lo que sugiere un próximo lavado de cara para la generación actual del 992.


Si bien el 992 todavía se ve fresco a nuestros ojos, se presentó en el Auto Show de Los Ángeles en noviembre de 2018 . Esto significa que cumplirá cuatro años este otoño, lo que significa que es el momento adecuado para la llegada del modelo 992.2. A modo de comparación, la generación anterior del 991 se introdujo en 2011 y recibió un lavado de cara en 2015.



El prototipo estaba camuflado y venía con unidades de iluminación adicionales para conducir en la nieve, pero podemos ver algunos cambios en comparación con el modelo de producción actual. El parachoques delantero parece haber sido rediseñado con tomas de aire más grandes con hendiduras complejas (probablemente activas).

La parte inferior del parachoques trasero también está camuflada, ocultando un difusor revisado con ventilaciones laterales adicionales y tubos de escape dobles montados en el centro. También podemos ver rejillas de ventilación modificadas en la cubierta del motor detrás del alerón trasero activo.

Si bien no tenemos fotos del interior, una toma ampliada desde las ventanas laterales muestra un nuevo tablero completamente digital que también se ha espiado en los prototipos del 911 Safari.



Se espera que la mayoría de las opciones de motor de la gama 911 actual se transfieran al lavado de cara, pero existe la posibilidad de que se agregue una opción electrificada a la gama. Después de todo, Porsche casi ha confirmado el primer 9111 híbrido desde que la arquitectura actual se desarrolló con la electrificación en mente. Eso sí, un prototipo híbrido 911 Turbo fue espiado probando en Nürburgring el año pasado.

Después de ver un Porsche 911 Turbo prototipo camuflado en diciembre pasado, nuestros fotógrafos espías captaron un 911 normal durante las pruebas de invierno, lo que sugiere un próximo lavado de cara para la generación actual del 992. Lo interesante es que los tubos de escape de los prototipos insinúan el motor de 4.0 litros de aspiración natural que podría marcar el regreso de una variante sin turbocompresor en la gama normal del 911.


Si bien el 992 todavía se ve fresco a nuestros ojos, se presentó en el Auto Show de Los Ángeles en noviembre de 2018 . Según nuestros fotógrafos espía, que citan fuentes dentro de Weissach, esto cambiará en el 992.2, que obtendrá el motor de aspiración natural de 4.0 litros en un modelo que no es de la serie GT.




Otra adición rumoreada a la gama que podría llegar con el próximo lavado de cara es una variante electrificada del modelo icónico. 2024 Porsche 911 Facelift Spied With Minor Design Tweaks, Could It Be Hiding NA Engine? [Updated]

[UPDATE: The article was updated with more photos and new information about the possible addition of a naturally aspirated engine in the non-GT3 911 range]

After spotting a camouflaged Porsche 911 Turbo prototype last December, our spy photographers caught a regular 911 during winter testing, hinting at an upcoming facelift for the current 992 generation. What is interesting is that the exhaust pipes of the prototypes hint at the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine which could mark the return of a non-turbocharged variant in the regular 911 range.


While the 992 still looks fresh in our eyes, it was introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2018. Thus, it will be four years old this autumn, meaning the time is right for the arrival of the 992.2 model. For comparison, the previous 991 generation was introduced in 2011 and received a facelift in 2015.


The prototype was camouflaged and came with additional lighting units for driving in the snow, but we can see some changes compared to the current production model. The front bumper appears to be redesigned with larger intakes featuring complex slits (likely active). The profile looks identical but a zoomed-in shot from the side windows shows a new fully digital dashboard that has been also spied in previous prototypes.

The lower part of the rear bumper is camouflaged, hiding a revised diffuser with additional side vents and central-mounted dual exhaust pipes. The latter looks very similar to the ones on the GTS 4.0, GT4, GT4 RS, and Spyder variants of the 718 family, making us believe that the redesigned engine cover is hiding a naturally aspirated mill. Mind you, the 4.0-liter six-cylinder motor can be found in the 992 GT3 and will soon find its way in the upcoming 992 GT3 RS, but the non-GT range only uses turbocharged units. According to our spy photographers, who cite sources from within Weissach, this will change in the 992.2, which will get the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine in a non-GT series model.


Another rumored addition to the range that could arrive with the upcoming facelift is an electrified variant of the iconic model. After all, Porsche has all but confirmed the first hybrid 911 since the current architecture was developed with electrification in mind. The hybrid 911 Turbo prototype that was spied testing at the Nürburgring last year supports this claim.

Porsche is expected to launch the 992.2 in 2023. The facelifted model could coincide with the debut of the 911 “Safari” which has been in development for quite a while now, featuring a jacked-up suspension and a different bodykit.

This large gallery of images offers an extensive look at the refreshed Porsche 911 in the convertible and coupe configurations. There is even a view of the updated model's interior.

In front, the refreshed 911 boasts an array of vertical slats in the lower inlets. The car can actively control these elements and close them depending on the vehicle's cooling needs.

The lamps on the outer corners are just for these development models and not something for the production version. According to our spies, the daytime running lights and turn signals are underneath them.

Along the sides, the convertible has a sensor on top of the passenger side A-pillar, and a wire is running into the front storage area. The examples of the coupe and droptop on the road are riding on mismatched wheels with a design featuring Y-shaped spokes in front and a 10-spoke design in the back.

The 911 on the track in these photos has sensors on the wheels. Specifically, the Kistler RoaDyn measures the forces affecting each corner for vehicle dynamics research and capturing road load data.

The rear bumper has a cover over it, so we can't draw any conclusions about the design. One change is relocating the dual exhaust outlets more toward the center of the tail.

Powertrain changes for the updated 911 range are still a mystery. However, we know a hybrid is joining the lineup. Porsche says that the electrically assisted model puts an emphasis on power over economy. The battery is small to keep this variant from gaining too much weight.

We expect the first of the refreshed 911s to debut in the second half of 2022. Right now, it's not clear whether the company would unveil all of the updated models at once or launch them one by one.



Inside, the refreshed 911 adopts a fully digital instrument cluster, replacing the analog tachometer from the current model. The center console layout doesn't look any different. The infotainment screen seems to be the same size.

 

2023 PORSCHE 911 HYBRID SPIED TESTING AT THE NÜRBURGRING

During the Industry Pool at the Nürburgring I have filmed the 2023 Porsche 911 Hybrid testing on track. The Porsche 911 Hybrid is a question of when rather than if. It has been confirmed multiple times by Zuffenhausen's top brass, so it's definitely happening.
Unlike the Panamera and Cayenne E-Hybrid models you can plug in to recharge their batteries, the upcoming sports car will be of the non-PHEV variety. Ahead of its official debut, the first production 911 to have an electric motor has been caught carrying extra lights.
Different prototypes were spotted at the Nürburgring (yes, the 2022 test season has started) and in snowy Sweden with yellow round stickers revealing their electrified nature. The tacked-on circular LEDs look rather strange and we're wondering whether they'll be there on the final version. Interestingly, the front air intakes have vertical elements behind the horizontal trim piece of the bumper.
You'll also notice both test vehicles had centrally mounted exhaust tips and were missing the vertical slats for engine cooling. Another tidbit the two have in common is a roll cage mounted where you'd expect to find the rear seats. In the case of the prototype caught in northern Europe, you'll also notice a bunch of wires dangling on the passenger seat.
Because a Porsche still has to be about performance even if it's a hybrid, the electric assistance will be about making the 911 faster rather than saving you money at the fuel pump. Of course, the main reason a partially electrified powertrain is happening is to keep up with tougher emissions regulations.
The peeps from Stuttgart have been coy about details, only saying it'll borrow tech from the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid endurance racer. A purely electric 911 won't be coming anytime soon even though Porsche projects more than 80 percent of its annual sales by 2030 will be represented by EVs.
In fact, the company has said it wants the iconic rear-engined machine to be the very last car in the automotive scene to lose the gas engine. Meanwhile, the smaller 718 Boxster and Cayman will bid adieu to the ICE in 2025 when the next-generation sports car will morph into an EV. The same will be happening to the Macan since the EV debuting in 2023 will be sold alongside the gasoline-fueled model for a couple of years or so until the latter will be discontinued.

Me recuerdan al 997 turbo pero un poco más marcados, quizá demasiado para mi gusto.

 

Claramente son parte del camuflaje o esconden algún sensor para las pruebas y no irán así en el de producción, como tampoco esos "apéndices" traseros con un reflectante rojo...

Esta nueva galería de fotos ofrece un vistazo al próximo Porsche 911 Hybrid en versión deportiva GTS, según nuestros espías. En comparación con las imágenes recientes del modelo electrificado, este luce más camuflaje en la fascia delantera y en la parte trasera.


En el frente, Porsche ajusta este automóvil con una fascia bastante agresiva. Hay amplias entradas a cada lado con tres barras horizontales y tracas verticales detrás de ellas. Pequeñas luces antiniebla se adhieren a la parte exterior de cada lado. La cinta negra cubre partes de la nariz, lo que sugiere que al menos algunos de estos elementos son solo marcadores de posición.




En el lateral, este 911 se monta sobre ruedas de bloqueo central con un diseño que no coincide. Las piezas del frente tienen cinco pares de radios. En la parte trasera, tienen 10 radios.

A través de la ventana, puede ver que el conductor está en un asiento de carrera y hay una jaula antivuelco. No espere que la versión de producción tenga estos componentes. No está claro si este automóvil tiene asientos traseros. Estaban ausentes de un vehículo de desarrollo anterior .

En la parte trasera, este 911 tiene un parachoques muy oculto. Hay pequeñas aberturas en la parte inferior de cada lado. Los reflectores sobresalen de protuberancias angulares. Es difícil de ver, pero hay dos salidas de escape cerca del centro. Uno de ellos tiene un acabado metalizado, y el otro es negro.
