2023 Nissan Z Production Has Started in Japan

    23 abr 2022

The original Z, which debuted in 1969, was built to bring the joy and excitement of sports car ownership to as many people as possible.
It was a car built for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts, and that spirit and heritage continues with the launch of the latest reincarnation of Z.
One of the defining traits of Z has always been its bond between the car and the driver – a physical and visceral connection, no matter the road ahead.
That human-machine bond dominates the new Z, especially in the presence of the standard 6-speed manual transmission. As a physical touch point between driver and Z, the 6-speed’s shifter glides to the next gear, almost instinctively, with minimal effort.
Also available is an advanced, quick response 9-speed automatic transmission. The all-new Z’s 3.0-liter V-6 twin turbo engine adds a significant increase in power output over the previous generation 370Z. It is designed to deliver a sharp, yet smooth response to the driver’s input.
With an increase of 68 HP and 30 percent increase in torque, this latest Z is like nothing before it. The engine is rated at 400 horsepower, and 350 lb. ft. of torque at 5,600 rpm.

Que pena que no lo traigan a Europa...

New Nissan Z Priced In Japan, 400HP Base V6 Only $1,930 More Than 255HP GR Supra 2.0
    APRIL 25, 2022
    [IMG]

Nissan has dropped full Japanese pricing for its hotly anticipated new Z before sales start in June, and it’s very competitively priced against its chief-rival, the Toyota GR Supra.

Unlike the GR Supra that gives buyers the choice of a 255HP 2.0-liter turbocharged four and a 382HP 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, the Nissan Z is exclusively offered with a 400HP twin-turbocharged V6 that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission from the get-go. The GR Supra is currently available with an eight-speed automatic only, though Toyota has confirmed a six-speed manual coming later this year.

With the basic specs out of the way, let’s see how the two compare in pricing in their home market of Japan. Nissan’s new Z with the standard 400HP starts from 5,241,500 YEN (equal to US$40,890 at current exchange rates) regardless of the transmission option. That’s a mere 246,000 Yen (US$1,924) more than the base Toyota GR Supra SZ with the 255HP four pot. In our book, giving just under $2k for an additional 145HP makes the Z the clear winner.

In order to compare apples to apples though, you’ll have to opt for the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine option on the GR Supra RZ, which bumps the price up to 7,313,000 Yen (US$57,215). At that price, all trim levels of the Z represent a significant bargain compared to the Supra, especially considering that the Supra is not available with a manual transmission, yet. You can check them out in detail below, but the Z’s prices range from 5,241,500 YEN (US$40,890) to 6,462,500 YEN (US$50,416) in Japan.

Version Price Japan Equal To (On 4/25)
    Fairlady Z 6sp Manual 5,241,500 YEN $40,890 USD
    Fairlady Z Version S 6sp Manual 6,063,200 YEN $47,300 USD
Fairlady Z Version ST 6sp Manual 6,462,500 YEN $50,416 USD
    Fairlady Z Automatic 5,241,500 YEN $40,890 USD
    Fairlady Z Version T Automatic 5,687,000 YEN $44,366 USD
Fairlady Z Version ST Automatic 6,462,500 YEN $50,416 USD

Official US pricing has not been announced yet, but Nissan officials have previously hinted that the Z will be priced around $40,000 to $45,000 in the United States. For reference, the six-cylinder Supra starts at $51,640 in the US. Hopefully these prices will largely carry over by the time it arrives on our shores in the summer of 2022.

As far as the differences in trims for the Japanese market Nissan Z are concerned, base and T automatic models will receive 18-inch aluminum wheels, while S, ST manual, and ST automatic trims will arrive with 19-inch Rays aluminum wheels, aluminum brake calipers, and a limited-slip differential. ST editions also get genuine leather and suede-like fabric, as well as power seats with lumbar support.

Finally, a limited-edition Z “Proto Spec” that was shown at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon will cost 6,966,300 ($54,593 USD). Only 240 examples of the Proto Spec will be produced, but we’re not sure if any will be allocated to the US.

It won’t be long before we find out pricing for the Z as Nissan has said that their RWD sports car will go on sale in the coming months, if not weeks.

Desvelado el Nissan Z de competición
    29 abril, 2022
    [IMG]

    2023 Nissan Z Costs $12,000 Less Than BMW-Powered Supra

    May 16, 2022 [IMG]

If you’re looking for a performance RWD bargain with more punch than a Mazda MX-5, Subaru BRZ, or Toyota 86, Nissan might have something in store for you. At $39,990 (excluding $1,025 destination and handling), the new Z is touted as being an “attainable dream car.” That statement certainly has some truth in it once you compare the starting price to that of a Toyota Supra with BMW’s inline-six engine.

The B58-powered sports car cost an extra $11,900, and a closer look at the pricing shows the V6-powered Z is actually even cheaper than the four-cylinder Supra with the B48 by $3,550. As it stands, BMW currently doesn’t have a direct answer to Nissan’s coupe since the M240i is still an xDrive affair for the time being. It costs from $48,550, but we’re expecting the promised rear-wheel-drive variant to be a couple of thousand dollars cheaper.

Enthusiasts looking for a more capable Z will step up from the base Sport model to the Performance. Available from $49,990, it adds quite a few niceties worth having. We’re primarily talking about the limited-slip differential and larger brakes, but also worth mentioning is the rev-matching function of the six-speed manual gearbox. Alternatively, the 370Z successor can be had with a nine-speed automatic as a no-cost option.

There’s a more expensive Z Proto Spec with a special finish inside and out as a visual nod to the preceding Z Proto unveiled in 2020. It costs $52,990 and is offered in the United States in just 240 examples. All three flavors of the tail-happy sports car are powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter unit with 400 hp on tap.

That gives it an extra dozen ponies over the M240i, Z4 M40i, and Supra while having the possibility to go for a manual. Granted, Toyota is introducing a three-pedal Supra 3.0 for the 2023 model year whereas BMW isn’t planning a stick shift for its two models equipped with the same B58 engine.

Que penita que no lo traigan a Europa, han estado vendiendo los 350/370 Z que eran un poco blandengue y ahora que sacan un Z interesante no lo cataremos...

2023 Nissan Z Starts At $48,448 In Canada, $20,000 Less Than GR Supra 3.0
    MAY 16, 2022

After the U.S, Nissan has also announced Canadian pricing for the 2023 Nissan Z and as with its southern neighbor, it undercuts the price of its biggest competitor by a big chunk of money. Prices for the new Z will start at $48,448 CAD ($37,491 USD at current exchange rates (all prices include $1,950 CAD destination fee).

In fact, every trim level of Nissan Z, even the limited production Proto Spec, is less expensive than the base model Toyota Supra, which starts at $68,460 or $70,411 CAD with destination ($54,486 USD). Canada, though, is only supplied with the 3.0-liter straight-six model, unlike in the U.S. market, where a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is also offered.

From launch, the 2023 Nissan Z will be sold in three trim levels in the country: The Z Coupe Sport, the Z Coupe Performance, and the Z Coupe Proto Spec. All are powered by the same 400 hp (298 kW/405 PS) 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine and all are offered with either a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic, with the latter adding an extra $1,500 CAD ($1,160 USD) to the price of the vehicle.

The Sport trim is offered with several safety tech features such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist, and more.

The Performance grade adds an eight-speaker Bose Audio system, NissanConnect Services, a mechanical Limited Slip Differential, and 19-inch RAYS super lightweight forged aluminum alloy wheels that come with Bridgestone Potenza S007 high-performance tires.

The Proto Spec, meanwhile, includes yellow brake calipers with the Z logo, Bronze-colored 19-inch aluminum wheels, an exclusive shift knob (though you have to have chosen the manual to get that), and Proto Spec leather seats with yellow accents.

“The Nissan Z is our company’s heart and soul, bringing sports car design, performance and excitement to a broad range of buyers, starting with the introduction of the first generation more than 50 years ago,” said Ken Hearn, Director of Marketing, Nissan Canada Inc. “With a starting MSRP of $46,498 CAD [plus $1,950 destination], this latest version is ready to create a whole new generation of Nissan Z fans when it comes to market this summer.”

The 2023 Nissan Z will be available in dealerships across Canada starting this summer.

We traveled to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to get our first drive review experience with the 2023 Nissan Z. From the humble Datsun 240Z to the previous-generation 370Z, Nissan has built Z-cars for over four decades now. Yet throughout those 43 years, each new generation has attempted to stay close to the principle of the original Fairlady Z: an affordable, approachable, and most importantly fun sports car. Which brings us to this, the simply-named 2023 Nissan Z. Featuring a 400-hp twin-turbocharged engine, 6-speed manual transmission, re-designed cockpit, and dramatic retro-futuristic styling, the new Z tries to make an impression. Join as we get behind the wheel and see if the 2023 Z lives up to the name.
