This is the 2023 Lotus Emira V6 manual in shadow gray with sport suspension and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. I recently compared the Lotus Elise to the Porsche Cayman to see which car manufacturer makes the best, mid-engine, driver-focused sports car. And for me, the Lotus was the clear winner. But how does the Lotus Emira compare to its main competitor, the Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0. Let's find out.

So he feels like he has a unique perspective on the Lotus Emira.
This is a big deal for Lotus. It is an all new sports car, and even though it is based on the Evora in some ways, it is a future collectible car in my opinion, because it will be the last internal combustion Lotus ever produced.
It looks very similar to the Lotus Evijah which you can see here
at the Amelia Island Concourse at 1 hour and 10 minutes into this video:

I think it also looks similar to the Maserati MC20 which to me is a really good thing! As a Maserati Owner as well, I really love the MC20, and to me the Emira resembles this car more than any Ferrari including the F8 Tributo.

One of the greatest selling points of the Lotus Emira is the price.
The 4 Cylinder version will start at $75,400 that's on par with the
718 Cayman S which Lotus sees as its major competitor.

The 6 Cylinder Emira starts at $93,900 which is $3,600 less than the
Porsche 718 Cayman GTS.
My first impression of the Lotus Emira which I drove in normal city driving conditions was that it was very easy and comfortable to drive. Clutch effort was light, and everything falls easily to hand. Fortunately towards the end of my seat time, I got to have some quick acceleration bursts and push it through a couple of nice turns. The V6 sounds properly raspy, but not over the top, and for a modern car, the steering feels very lotus like. Certainly not as communicative as my two older Lotus sports cars, but top notch vs anything on the market today. The Emira weighs just 3,086 lbs which compared to a 2200 lb Esprit, or a 1300 lb Europa is quite heavy, but it is very light for a car in 2023. The four door Toyota Corolla weighs about the same as the Emira, and of course Colin Chapman's philosophy for Lotus was "simplify and add lightness" which Lotus certainly did when engineering and designing the Emira. The bottom line is that the Emira is an extremely desirable Lotus that provides speed, handling and even luxury and tech on levels that have not been included in any prior Lotus all at a very competitive price. You'll need to put down just $2,500 to reserve yours, so if you are thinking about it, you should definitely head to your Lotus dealer ASAP. As I said before, the Emira will be the last gas powered Lotus, so I think it will be a future collectible. With the dual clutch AMG sourced 4 cylinder turbo, mated to the 8 speed dual clutch transmission, the Emira will be very quick, and very fun to drive, all while returning at least 21 mpg overall. Impressive!

Here are my thoughts on my Lotus Emira V6 after covering 2500 miles and visiting Milan Pagani, Ferrari and Firenze. On the way back to the UK we headed to a derestricted Autobahn, to see how the Emira behaved at 150mph+

The 2023 Lotus Emira First Edition ($94,430 USD as spec’d, $120,688 CAD) is a brand new sports car with two engine choices. A torquey AMG 4 cylinder mated to a 6 speed auto, or a supercharged 3.5L V6 with a manual option. Both options come with strong horsepower numbers at 359 hp and 400 hp respectively, but the smaller 4 cylinder actually has a bit more torque. James has secretly used the company credit card to put a deposit down on a new Emira, and Thomas is learning that they will either have to take delivery, or forfeit their deposit altogether. Will the new Lotus Emira be everything they hope it will be? We hope you enjoy the episode.

 

El problema de estos coches es que como se te rompa algo a ver donde la reparas
Lo bueno que en mecánica son motores fiables y sencillos,
Pero en carrocería y componentes como te des un golpe o se te rompa algo ponte a rezar lo digo yo que he tenido un Evora.

 

Ahora mismo sólo está el de Bilbao pero van
abrir 4 concesionarios más según me han dicho en Barcelona Madrid Marbella Valencia

 

Después de este video me han cambiado la percepción que tenía del coche.

Creía que Lotus en su nueva Concepción no había conseguido un coche tan bueno y bien puesto a punto. Que pasada!

 

A mi también ese video me ha cambiado la percepción.

 

Está claro que esto es “otra cosa” que lo que hasta ahora hacía Lotus. Para lo bueno, y lo malo.

El problema es a ver quien compra esto antes que un GT4…costando “lo mismo”. Difícil.

Es precioso y una opción diferente. Esta claro. Pero…

 

Cierto, pero creo que muchos de sus compradores ya tendrán un GT4 en el garaje... como tu precioso rojo, bribón
